RE: What are you up to?

Haha! I'm glad you finished up buying gifts, I know that's hard work! Yep, I got mine done in time too BTW Luckily!! I bought my mom a blanket, that was what she wished for, and my dad I gave him a coffee maker, and for my sister I bought a "spa-set" and then I put all the money I had left in the box. She needs them more than I do, she lives so far away, and all alone!

So yeah, her visit was really great. It was really good seeing her again, she bought a new dog while she was staying here, a tiny one. He was really funny, his name is Rambo haha.

Things in general is good, I bought a guitar not long ago, it hasn't arrived yet though. I can't wait, it's a red Fender Squier Strat.

My sister is pretty down now though, her boyfriend broke up with her January 4, so she's been crying for a long time now, my mom is comforting her in the phone all the time, I hope she'll be fine soon. I hate it when she's sad!

We also sent up fireworks, we didn't buy alot this year but many other people did, so it was fun watching! I catched some of it on tape, I might upload it on YouTube in near future.

I want to visit NY, if only for a week or so, so much cool to see!

Yeah, any news about the job search? It's weird about the salary difference if you have experience!! Really! Hope you get a well payed job! It's hard to get a job there in NY!! Haha, still, I wanna live there. Maybe just for one year.

Enjoying your guitar? It sounds fantastic!!! I took guitar lessons in high school, but had to drop them b/c I didn't have time to pratice.

Glad to hear that your parents and sister liked their gifts. My parents and relatives liked theirs too. My sister hasn't gotten hers yet because my mom accidently left the bag she put in at my Aunt and Uncle's house. Just as well. I got her warm pajamas and her apartment is overheated (I wish my mom had told me that when I told her I was getting the pajamas!!!!!). For that and a bunch of other reasons, she's moving next month. I'll take the bag (which also has my parents' presents in it) with me the next time I visit my parents. Because my sister lives about two hours from my parents and about four from me (give or take), I usually see her when I'm visiting my parents, which is about once every two months.

Sorry about your sister's boyfriend. At least he had the decency to wait until after Christmas and at least she's got Rambo to keep her company. That's a funny thing to name a small dog. My sister has a cat, but she used to be my parents' cat. A couple of years ago, she took in a stray that had too much energy to be comfortable in a small apartment. One of my parents' cats hardly came inside because she was so afriad of the dogs and so annoyed by the other cats, so my parents and my sister swapped cats. Both cats are much happier where they are now. My parents have 4 other cats and 2 dogs. I miss them.

I was very thoughtful of you to give your sister that money. My sister lives alone too,but she's been in the same career for almost 6 years andprobably makes a lot more money than I do (I don't know how much she actually makes). She also has a boyfriend for the first time in a long time. She's been with him for a couple of months now but I have yet to meet him.

Visiting New York is fun! I've lived here for almost 4 years and when I go into the city (I live an hour outside of NYC), I still find new and exciting things. Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge for the fireworks (I walked to the middle for the show and then to the other side to catch the subway back to Penn Station) is an example of that. New York's so big and diverse that there's always something new to discover.

I think how easy it is to get a job there depends on your field. The salary jump also does as well. My problem getting a job is that I'm so young and so fresh out of school that I don't have a lot of experience working as anything outside of the kind of jobs teenagers told, so I haven't really proved myself. Even someone as young as 25 has a huge advantage over me.

I was holding off on posting because I was waiting on that job I made the second round for, but I didn't get it. Last week, I also found out that I didn't get the job in New Jersey, one of the jobs another agency put me in for and one fo the federal positions that I applied for. Thursday night, I put out a new batch of applications. I've been sending out a lot but, because of the holidays and inventory, I haven't been as frequent as I'd like since mid-November when the holiday stuff picked up. Now that the holidays and inventory are over and my work hours have been cut in half with no opportunies for extra hours, I'm not only going to be more regular, but am going to try and branch out in terms of where I apply. I am getting really sick of being in limbo like this.

Sorry if there are a lot of typos and stuff in this post. I live in an apartment that's attached to my landlady's house. She and her husband are extremely considerate people, but I don't think they realize how much I overhear from their house. Most of is stuff I can block out if I play music or put on my construction headphones, but their kids have been running around the apartment constantly for at least the past hour and a half and I can hear it through the headphones. I switched to music, but it's not helping too much either. There are only two of them, but sounds like there's a pack of wild animals running around. I need to talk to her.

Hey Adele!

Yeah the guitar is really awesome, its hard though, trying to learn it by myself

I'm sure your sister will be happy for her gifts too!  Yeah she does have Rambo, but she's still sad Hope she'll feel better soon, she needs a new apartment!

Yeah Rambo is a funny name haha, he's really small!!

Nice of your sister to take that stray cat home with her. What's your sisters cat named?

Ahh to bad you didn't get that job!

And yeah, you should talk to them, haha! I hate it when people can't tell their noisy children to keep it down, especially when the walls are thin!

I got some GREAT news!! The Independents are coming to Norway!   But they're not coming near me, but still, I'm gonna try to get ahold of one of their shows. I'm willing to travel through half of Norway to see them!

Sorry it took so long to reply, once again! haha

****in' nice! I hope you get to go to the show! I missed at least one Independents show because I was underaged (I didn't always keep as good an eye on their tour dates) and the one I'm sure I missed wasn't just any show...it was the release party for Full Moon Arise! And it was at the Continental, which was almost exclusively 21 and up until about the last year or so...probably for financial reasons. Thankfully, when they played halloween there the next year, someone was kind enough to have the age limit lowered to 18 which was great for me b/c I still had another two weeks before I turned 21. That was also my first show at the Continental. What an intro! I think that also may have been the last time they played the Continental, but I'm not positive...by the time they came around again, I had graduated from college and was in Maryland for the summer, so I caught them there.

My sister has always been good with cats. The cat she took in that my parents now have is named Cinder. The cat that my parents had that she now has is named Mitzie. She actually found Mitzie as a stray back when she was in high school and my parents took her in. Not that they needed begging...all of our pets except for one came from people who were looking to find homes for them (we were looking for pets as well) and my mom runs a wildlife sanctuary for injured and/or orphaned wild birds and small mammals out of a room in our house. All of the animals are released back into the wild when they are better or grown up. She is licensed by the state.

I was at my aunt and uncle's house for dinner last night, so I now have my sister's present, as well as all of the other stuff my mom left there, in my possesion. However, I may be flying home the next time I visit instead of driving, which would make taking some of that stuff hard. Maybe I'll just mail it. My mom said she'd pay for it if my aunt mailed it, so I assume she'd do the same if I mailed it.

Not much else going on...lmy hours at work were cut in half, but I'mfinding I don't mind as much as I thought I would because it's giving me more time to get other stuff done, like apply for real jobs!!! I did a lot of that last week and the week before. I have had three interviews since the beginning of last week. One job, I know I didn't get because they were kind enough to call me and tell me (most places aren't). They were also kind enough to boost my ego by telling me how many people were interviewed for the position: 5. That means they were VERY picky about who was granted an interview. I'm not sure about the other two jobs. I know that one of them was going to try and pick out people for a second round of interviews sometime this week (granted this could get delayed as they are shorthanded right now). The other was interviewing through the end of this week and usually gets back to people pretty quickly, so if I don't hear from them by the end of next week, I'll assume I didn't get it.

Oh, btw, don't apologize for taking a long time to reply...I don't think either one of us has ever been terribly prompt with this thread.

Right now I'm looking at my to do list which is 3 pages long, single spaced, typed. and trying to decide what project to work on next. I'm also dreaming of an xtra lg mocha with whipped cream and double the caffiene. I'm listening to W.A.S.P (lol) and I'm determined to ignore my carpal tunnel. I could just die from the excitement that is my life.

Hey! No fair! Ha, ha! What W.A.S.P. album are you listening to? I love "I'm Blind in Texas" from the Last Command album. Coincidentally, we're in Texas right now!

So boring!! Can't wait 'til I get home. I have been reading a book the last two hours, and I'm gonna continue for two hours after this break

I even forgot my mp3 player so no music, music always brightens up the day, alot! 3 hours to go, and then I'm HOME!
Oh yeah, if anybody is going to buy themselves a PlayStation 3, let me know and I'll add you to my contact list on it. They're expensive, but FUN as hell!!!

Over the last twenty-four hours, I have eaten only one thing that could not be called **** food. Right now I am eating substantive **** food so that I can at least stop feeling like I've had a couple to drink.

Today, I had an interview with a big company over the phone and then I feel back to sleep and was woken up with a job offer, which I accepted. The salary sucks bad enough that I'll need a second job, but not badly enough that the second job would have to be full time. At this point, I'll take what I can get. The fact that it's 10 minutes from home and the people are very friendly and laid back goes a long way too.

I have a night job, but I don't like it and my hours are not consistent. However, the store manager, unsolicited, put me in for a management position that is not on the sales floor (aka lacking 90% of the **** I hate about the job I do now) and would pay enough that I wouldn't need a second job, so I'll stay with the current night job until I know what's going on with that. If I get that job, I'll take it, but if I don't, I'm out of there.

Not much else going on. Hope everything is going well for everyone else.

Hey all! How are you doing? It's 3:04 am and I can't sleep so I'm spending my time surfing the web while listening to some music, the Independents to be precise (what a shock biggrin.gif )

I'm on my second of a rare two straight days off from work and I have already ****ed up my sleep schedule completely, which is not good b/c I have work at 9am tomorrow. I now work two jobs, one full time during the day and one part time some nights and weekends. My natural nightowl body is not liking having to be awake during daylight. Luckily, I make enough at the day one that I don't need to work more than 15 hours per week at the night one and in the field I'm in during the day, the average pay goes up very steeply once you've been there for a couple of years.
